HQ + showroom
Hume, Canberra
We had the opportunity to showcase a variety of applications, techniques and finishes in the build of our sister company’s new HQ. Working with Dominic Pelle, and associates from Pelle architects, we used a variety of concrete, rust and raw plaster finishes to work harmoniously with the raw recycled timbers and steel present throughout the space. The space won the 2020 Master Builders Award for “best use of materials in a commercial project” and also won 1st place in “best commercial fit-out under one million dollars”. An excellent outcome all round.
Products used
Feature wall finishes were Lustre Crete, applied in a Venetian style technique and sealed and polished with Cera Wax and Savon De Marseille by Coverit. We used the Savon product as it tends to give a soft silvery highlight to the lighter shades of the finish.
We used the The Marmo Papa, for benchtops in the coffee station, this was tinted to a dark slate grey and sealed with the Tough As – Matt Sealer.
For the sliding barn doors throughout the space we used our Flex FX with iron metal. Patina was then applied using a variety of our colours to create the mottled burnt orange rust effect.
The boardroom table top was created using Lustre Crete applied in a spatulata effect.
Bulkheads to main reception area, was Lustre Crete applied using a Split rock technique and sealed using a Cera wax for protection.
